The Via Claudia Augusta – wonderful family cycle route in the Alps, following the trail of the Romans

Almost 2000 years ago, the Romans built the only imperial road over the Alps as a link between southern Germany and northern Italy, the Via Claudia Augusta.
Nowadays, the cycling and hiking route over the Fern Reschen passes takes you in 3 stages and 130 km through the “country in the mountains”. Thanks to the route being divided into individual stages and the availability of shuttle services, the Via Claudia Augusta is also very suitable for less experienced riders, family biking holidays, and older riders. Experience the wonderful natural scenery along the route, stop off at places of cultural interest, and refuel in the many guesthouses with new interpretations of old Roman specialities.
This historical link over the Alps is especially suitable for leisurely family walks or more demanding mountain tours with your partner or with friends.
